ENHANCED STAMINA

Hinata has zero tolerance for flashy clothing and much prefers to wear more casual stuff like plain t-shirts and baggy pants. Along with that, he doesn't style his hair much and usually just keeps it loose. It's only when he dresses up for special occasions that he does something special with his hair. Hinata has a pair of wings tattooed on his back that goes along is arms which signifies him as the Tengu of the Ueno Family or the Tengu of Nakawacho depending on who you ask.

Hinata is, truthfully, socially awkward. Due to his past where he didn't have many chances to form connections with people, he doesn't know how to handle most situations where people talk to him. So he just chooses to not talk all that much instead. When he does talk, Hinata has a slight rude tinge to his dialogue. He'll call others stupid if they are acting irrational and generally voice his opinions if need be. Even if others don't want to hear it. Otherwise, Hinata has a heart of gold when it matters and protects the innocent when he needs to, earning him respect among the citizens who recognize him as the Tengu of Nakawacho. But that title also has earned him some trouble from rival yakuza clans which is always a pain to deal with.
He has killed before and does not hesitate to do it when the situation calls for it. He cares mainly for himself and the small circle of friends that he has. Anyone else can bite the bullet for all he cares. He acts as nonlethally as he can but if someone dies in the process, he finds that it isn't his problem anymore. It's their fault and so they got what they deserved for trying to cross him. Hinata is an experienced fighter and expert Luxmancer. He aims to win all of his fights and usually needs to be pulled away from ones where he has no chance of winning. This comes from his time as a child in an underground Mancer fighting ring, knowing that losing usually meant death immediately afterwards which is why he tries to win all fights now.
One of Hinata's closest friends is his sworn brother, Hidetoshi Ota. Hide was the one who recruited Hinata to the Yakuza after he stole him away from the underground fighting ring that he was a part of. It took a while for the two of them to grow close but, once they did, they became inseparable. Only with those who Hinata considers close friends does he emote, catching others off guard whenever he laughs when he gets drinks with Hide. He is kind with his friends and a lot more talkative, able to crack jokes and offer advice that he thinks will help them. He even lets them get away with certain things, like letting them choose how he dresses which is what he does with Hide at times. Hinata also has a soft spot for kids, especially ones with troubled pasts. He took care of the kids in the Ueno family who were saved from the underground fighting ring that he was a part of, always going out of his way to cheer them up when they needed it.
Hinata isn't the best when it comes to romance. He only recently discovered what romantic love was thanks to his meeting with Otome Sayama, the girl who was worth 10 billion yen that he ended up wanting to save. According to Hinata's clan boss, Watari Ueno, her Mancer ability could finally place anyone on top of the world. Hinata's boss ordered him to find her and bring her back to them. He met her at a hostess club, surprised to learn that she was polite, didn't talk much, and really sweet. It was at that moment that he really discovered how attractive people could be in personality, though he has been able to know if someone was good looking in the past. He just never actively pursued a relationship. He is still exploring these feelings even now. Hinata betrayed his clan just for her once he found out that they planned on selling her or possibly killing her if she fought back. Hinata does have his moments where he does go against orders, especially when experiencing so many emotions at once. He also doesn't plan things out since, once he betrayed his clan, he had to wing most of their journey to keep them safe.
Hinata has not cried ever since he was a kid fighting in the underground fighting ring, having lost someone he considered a friend during one of the fights. The act of crying is something foreign to him and he often struggles to deal with a crying Otome during their journey together. The first time Hinata genuinely cried was when Hide died, unable to process the wetness that was streaming down his face as tears for a few seconds before he broke down and allowed himself to grieve for another lost friend.

Hinata's parents have always been unknown to him nor has he gone out of his way to search for them either. As a young child, Hinata lived in an orphanage with a bunch of other Mancer children who he enjoyed being around. And although he wasn't all that social with them, Hinata could easily admit that he had a good life there. He even had a friend named Ichi, who always acted as the shining sun to Hinata's dull moon. Children were often adopted from the place in pairs so it was only a matter of time before Ichi was adopted and he was left by himself again. Eventually that day came when Hinata was eight when a kind, older man came in to adopt him and another kid that he didn't talk to much.
The man was dressed really well and Hinata was hopeful about the fact that the man would be taking good care of him. But it did not take long for that fantasy to be ripped away from him the moment they drove away and arrived at his new home.
In the more desolate district of Nakawacho, Hinata was hit with the cold truth that everything was a lie. His nice life at the orphanage was a lie as well, as the man who adopted him was a Yakuza who specialized in trafficking with the orphanage simply being a holding place until kids developed their abilities enough that they could be considered strong. The soft bed that he pictured for himself was, instead, a cold cell shared with other children. It was there that he reunited with Ichi, who had been there ever since Hinata last saw him. Hinata learned the hard way that they were going to be forced to fight for the right to live another day as they were only brought there to fight to the death against others.
Hinata learned quickly how to use his powers to kill whoever his opponent was no matter how old they were or how strong they were. He had no choice but to win. He didn't form any kind of bond with the other children around him since any of them could die at any time. Even the one who came with Hinata to the fighting pits didn't end up making it that long, something which pained him for a while. The only one he was close to was Ichi due to their lingering bond from their days at the orphanage. Behind the backs of the men who took them away, Hinata and Ichi began formulating a plan of escape for themselves with the goal of eventually coming back for everyone else.
But when their plan came to fruition, and they were so close to escaping, they were eventually caught in the act. Ichi was the one who planned on fighting until the end to escape, which ended in him being shot in the head and killed to protect Hinata. Hinata was not allowed to grieve for him, being threatened to be beaten if he did so as he was dragged back to his cell to continue his life as a fighter. For the next five years until he turned eighteen, Hinata didn't try to escape again and fought whenever it was his turn to do so. But after he turned eighteen did things begin looking up for him and the rest of the kids trapped there.
Outside of the fighting pits, a war was going on with the Ueno family as they fought for control of Nakawacho. And with the help of their growing numbers, they ended up wiping out the previous gang that had control of Nakawacho. The Ueno family came into the fighting pits and it was there that Hinata met Hidetoshi, who patted him on the head and told him that they were family. Hinata had nowhere else to go so he stuck with Hidetoshi, becoming an official member of the Ueno clan along with the rest of the fighters around his age. The rest of the children who were too young were sent back to the orphanage which had also been taken over by the Ueno clan and turned into a legitimate orphanage.
For a while, Hinata and Hidetoshi did not get along. Hinata's time in the fighting pits left him feeling jaded about close bonds with people and about people in general. He saw them as potential enemies until Hidetoshi began breaking down his walls little by little until Hinata was willing to call him a friend. Hidetoshi became the only one who he was really close to. He was older than him and also wiser, subconsciously reminding Hinata of Ichi.
Up until now, Hinata stayed loyal to the Ueno family since they saved him so long ago. But that was until he was ordered to find a woman named Otome who taught him that there were truly kind people in the world and not everyone was an enemy. With Hinata's growing feelings for her, he eventually chose her over the Ueno family after finding out what they planned to do with her. And so started the brand-new story of Hinata and Otome -- two individuals on the run from the family that Hinata betrayed and who wanted them both dead or alive.
